A series of programs and discussions: sponsored by Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism
o purpose: to preserve and advance understanding of one of the most important events in both modern world history but especially in the development of the people’s and socialist movements for revolution and liberation.
The commemoration will draw lessons and applications from the rich experience of the Russian revolution of October 1917 to better organizing efforts and practical effectiveness in pushing forward the struggles and movements of today towards socialism.
The overall framework is a positive assessment of the Russian Revolution, while recognizing the many problems and justified criticisms.
The focus is on the revolution and its aftermath, as well as extending to global impacts. An emphasis of the discussion is to succinctly draw lessons applicable today.
The goal is education and drawing lessons; discussion should be honest, serious and respectful dialogue and debate
